Hillsdale CARES: Hillsdale CARES is a group of 11 churches in the community that work together to help families in our community. Hillsdale CARES helps with food, rent, gas, utility bills, trips to doctors, and other general needs. The church’s primary focus with Hillsdale CARES is the Bread Ministry. The Bread Ministry is housed and centrally organized in our church. The Bread Ministry helps 63 families every week with extra groceries and bread. The Bread Ministry is fortunate to have many partnering businesses, Panera Bread, KFC, The Donut Connection, Pizza Hut, The Cleveland Food Bank, Ashland County Food Bank, Archway Cookies, and Farmers and Hunters. In short, a typical week starts by receiving donuts from the Donut Connection on Wednesday and bread from Panera Bread and chicken from KFC on Friday. Saturday the food is sorted and prepared for packing on Sunday. Then, Sunday volunteers come to church early package all of the food and then people from other churches come and pick-up the food that they will deliver and then after worship several more volunteers deliver food to people in the community. Finally, Hillsdale CARES for the Bread Ministry organized a food drive at the local schools. The schools collected over 6000 canned items that were all brought back to our church and volunteers from our church sorted and put away the food. Hillsdale CARES has helped in many other areas that are described at www.hillsdalecares.net |
